It’s Time to Set the Record Straight…
There’s a rumor going around that I want everyone to quit their jobs and start businesses. And I know for a fact that there are plenty of you reading this RIGHT NOW who have been wanting to reach out to me, but you’re afraid I might talk you into doing something risky. Well, it’s time for me to set the record straight!
Know what I really want? I want people to have no regrets, kick-butt careers (or businesses) where they are blessed to use their talents and tap into their passions to make a difference. Everybody isn’t cut out for entrepreneurship. But everyone can — and deserves to have — the type of professional life that I’m talking about.
We make lots of excuses for settling when it comes to our careers. Our families need us. We don’t have the time or resources to go after what we really want. Good opportunities just don’t come to people “like us” — whatever “like us” means in your mind.
Know what I think? I think you’re afraid. Afraid to fail. Or even worse…afraid to succeed. Will you be able to live up to the increased demands and expectations? Will your spouse or children resent you if you aren’t able to do everything you do today? You have no proof that any of the fears you’re harboring will ever come true, yet you’re allowing them to hold you hostage.
Can I ask you a question? What if there’s a fulfilling life out there waiting for you? Living it may require a significant change like a new career or starting a business. Or it could be something a small as charging money for that side hobby or having a conversation with your boss to express your desires for the future. I’m not about getting anyone to do anything they aren’t ready for — which is why all of my clients move at different paces and I don’t have a cookie-cutter approach to coaching. But what I will always do is ask you questions that perhaps you haven’t asked yourself in a long time…or ever. What I will do is hold up the mirror and show you how awesome you are. And I will always offer ways that you can share who you are and what you have to offer with the rest of the world.
